My name is Mehrdad Biglarbegian. I am a Ph.D. candidate in Power Electronics at the UNC-Charlotte working under the supervision of Dr. Babak Parkhideh in PV Integration Lab.

I graduated with B.Sc. degree in Electrical Power System Engineering from the school of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Tehran. I also received my M.Sc. degree in Energy Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. As an exchange student at ACS, I defended my M.Sc. thesis entitled with “Design, Implantation, and Evaluation of Cooperative Methods for Short Term Compensation of Deviation loads from Load Schedule for 2DSM” in RWTH + Politecnico di Milano working with Professor Antonello Monti and Dr. Fabio Rinaldi.

I served as a Ph.D. visitor scholar at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, and Ph.D. researcher intern at ABB Corporate Research Center at Raleigh, North Carolina. My expertise includes diagnostics and reliability enhancement of GaN power converters, sensing analysis of high power and high-frequency converters. My research interest also is on power electronics for utilities with the specific focus on Solar PV inverter systems.
